New owner of Bayview Optix, Kathy Twort
Optometrist and Spectacle Dispenser

Kathy started her career in optics in Harare, Zimbabwe well over 25 years ago. Her humble beginnings as a dispensing optician and contact lens specialist at an independent optometry practice, over 7 years, led to a strong desire to further her studies to become an optometrist. In 2000, she left her home town to gain international experience and study optometry in the United Kingdom.

After achieving her Bachelor of Optometry degree and several years of locum work all around the UK, she gained a vast understanding of how the many different styles of practices and their business models worked. This led to her decision to focus on independent optometry.

Kathy, her husband and their two small children, relocated to Perth in 2013 seeking the warm shores of Western Australia. Kathy gained invaluable experience during her time as one of the directors to the largest independent optometry group in WA. During this time Kathy undertook further studies to gain a post graduate certificate in Ocular Therapeutics, enabling her to prescribe ocular medicines. Kathy enjoys working with children, continually growing her knowledge and understanding of childhood development. She attained her advanced certificate in Paediatric optometry through the Australian College of Optometrists. Kathy has always had a strong affiliation with contact lenses along with managing dry eye disease and prevention of myopia.

Kathy enjoys seeing patients of all ages and prides herself in thorough consultations with a genuine caring nature for all her patients. She has a strong drive for excellence and meeting people’s needs.

Kathy’s ambitious nature and life-long dream to own her own independent optometry practice came to fruition at the end of 2021. She is honoured to have been given the opportunity to continue the legacy of this high quality practice and its products Bayview Optix patients have come to trust and enjoy for over 30 years.
